
Miss Amber Allen and Mr. Chase Rankin were crowned Faulkner State’s 2011 Homecoming Queen and King during last week’s Homecoming festivities.
Rankin of Prichard, Ala. is a 2009 graduate of C.F. Vigor High School and is the son of Donna Rankin, also of Prichard. He is President of the Student Government Association, a member of the Pow-Wow Leadership Society, a member of Baptist Campus Ministries, and he serves as a Resident Assistant in Thompson Hall. Chase is a sophomore majoring in Biology, and upon graduation in May, plans to pursue a Bachelors’ degree in Biology.
Allen of Gulfport, Miss. is a 2009 graduate of Ocean Springs High School and is the daughter of Vickie Allen of Hattiesburg, Miss. She is member of the 2010 National Championship winning Faulkner State Cheerleading Team. She is a member the Student Government Association where she currently serves as Vice President and was selected to the Faulkner State Dean’s List in 2009 and 2010. Amber is a sophomore majoring in Physical Education, Health and Recreation. Allen is a Division I Cheerleading prospect and plans to continue cheering while pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine in the fall.

The 2011 Sophomore court in addition to Allen and Rankin is: Jasmine Holloway, Jordan McCall, Ashley Ivey, Brittany Lang, Alexis Key, Deeon Hyde, Deonte Evans, Kevin Williams, De’Mickus Brothern, Brian Wilkerson and Tanell Hooker.
The 2011 Freshmen court is: Noelle Drew, Jori Ponder, Katie Smith, Samantha Hollenkamp, Lacey Scott, Holly Dunnam, Matthew Steele, Ryan Seifert, Chip Grimes, Dallas Scruggs and William Knox.
Faulkner State’s Student Government Association holds elections annually for both officer and Homecoming positions. Any student planning to return to Faulkner State the following year may run for an SGA office. Freshmen and sophomores are eligible for election to the Homecoming courts.
The Sun Chief basketball teams competed against Southern Union State Community College for Homecoming 2011. Faulkner State’s Lady Sun Chiefs defeated SUSCC by a score of 67 to 28, while the mens’ team won 99 to 75. A special recognition ceremony was held for Faulkner State by the City of Bay Minette just prior to the beginning of the mens’ game recognizing Homecoming 2011. Womens’ Coach Linda Pitts and mens’ Coach and Athletic Director Jack Robertson received the recognition.
