A veteran of 41 seasons as head coach of the Faulkner State Community
College basketball fortunes, Jack Robertson has guided the Sun Chiefs
to 806 wins and 433 losses. Robertson ranks top among all-time coaching
wins in the state of Alabama and 4th among active coaches and 9th among
the all time coaches in the National Junior College Athletic
Association. His teams have won 2 state championships and been runner up
three times. They have also won 13 Southern Division championships.
Robertson’s best season was the 1991 team which won a state record of
32 games. The Sun Chiefs won the state championship and then finished
sixth in the nation at the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Coach Robertson is a graduate of Baldwin County High School and
Marion Military Institute. He completed his bachelor’s degree from the
University of South Alabama and his master’s degree from Troy State
University. His first coaching job was at Robertsdale High School before
moving to Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. He also serves as

Pete Myers, who played for the Chicago Bulls is now an assistant coach
with the Golden State Warriors of the NBA. Bart Rison is a retired head
basketball coach in Kentucky; he is now assistant principal and athletic
director in Kentucky. Leonard White has played in the CBA league.
White is the all time leading scorer at Faulkner State. Scott Bracco is
head basketball coach in Atlanta, GA, and his team from Dunwoody High
School won the 2005 and 2006 State Championship, just to mention a few.
He was inducted into the Baldwin County High School Hall of Fame in
1997, the NJCAA Region 22 Hall of Fame in 1997, and the NJCAA Basketball
Coaches Hall of Fame the summer of 2010 in Las Vegas, NV.
Robertson’s wife of 42 years, Patsy, is a faithful follower of
Faulkner State basketball. She has now retired and was a curriculum
specialist and counselor for the Upward Bound program at Faulkner State.
They have 3 children: Robby, Melanee, and Renee. Robby is head men’s
basketball coach at Fairhope
High School. He is married to the former Celeste Bagwell and they have
three children, Jackson, age 7, Cohen, age 6 and Lila Gray, age 10 months. Celeste is Director of Student Activities
and Cheerleader Coach. Melanee graduated from the University of Alabama
and received a Master’s Degree in accounting from the University of
South Alabama, and is now Senior Accountant at Global Tel Link in
Mobile. Melanee is married to Brian Groom. Brian is a former baseball player at Faulkner State and University of South Alabama. They are expecting their first child in May 2015. Renee is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and now
teaches 2nd grade at Bay Minette Elementary School. She is married to Lucas Hall and they have two children, Ally, age 5 and Lucas, age 4.
