Support Your Class - Register Early!
The Department of Training for Business and Industry and Continuing Education has to be self supporting. Without your help we won’t even break even! Your early registration means everything. Classes will be cancelled two working days prior to the start date without minimum enrollments. Computer classes need a minimum of five enrollees to continue. Continuing Education classes need at least ten enrollees. So please don’t be the one to cancel the class.
Pre-registration is required for all computer classes and your registration is not considered complete unless your payment is received before class starts. Withdrawals and refunds will be made before the second class starts for continuing education classes. You may withdraw from a computer class at anytime before the class starts with a full refund. Anyone who registers for a computer class and does not attend will be charged a $25.00 cancellation fee. No computer class refunds will be made after the class starts. Remember there will never be more than ten attendees in each computer class.

The Hispanic community is a tremendous market for goods and service especially in Baldwin and Mobile County. As with all consumers, they expect marketers and sellers to address their taste and needs.
Hispanic customers are very loyal. They need to be treated with respect and feel they are valued customers – just like anyone else. They will shop where they feel comfortable and are treated well.
Depending on their education and economic situation in their native country, some Hispanics may not be familiar or comfortable with bank and credit accounts. Computers and detailed recordkeeping are not common in poorer regions of Latin America. Opening an account and establishing credit may require lost of explanation and assistance.
Utility and Telecom companies are typically government controlled in Latin America. This area of government control can cause some fear and concern among Latinos in the U.S.

Instructor will cover basic AC Theory, Ohms Law, Power and VA calculations on single phase and 3 phase systems and their applications to everyday electrical wiring and electrical design. The instructor will cover branch circuits, motor circuits, overload, short-circuit and overcurrent protection. There will be continuing reference to the applicable sections to 2005 National Electrical Code. The course will also include some hands-on measurements of grounding resistance, both outside and in the classroom. There will be a section on voltage drop calculations. With the mixture of theory and Code, the participants will come away from this seminar with a better understanding of electrical wiring and specific information on current code requirements for the above areas. The participants will be learning why the Code sets the standards it does. This will aid the participants in preparing to pass the Journeyman competency exam.

THE OUTSTANDING SEMINAR PRESENTERS & INSTRUCTORS
Martha R. Owen, RN, BC, BSN, MS, Educational Specialist is a graduate of the Oklahoma Baptist University School of Nursing Martha Later received the Profiles in Excellence Award given to alumni for “outstanding performance in professional activities.” Upon graduation, she received her commission in the United State Army Nurses Corps and served on active duty from 1958-1962. She has been an instructor and director of the Licensed Practical Nusring and Associate Degree Nursing Programs at Wallace Community College Selma. Upon retirement, Martha established Diversified Nursing Services, a continuing education program designed to assist nurses and other health professionals to remain competent in their chosen professions. Diversified Nursing Service is in its 14th year of providing continuing education throughout the entire State of Alabama. Martha has received Board Certification in Continuing Education and Staff Development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Martha is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, national honorary society for professional nurses.
Mary Ellen Rollins, RN, BSN, MSN has been a nurse educator for over 20 years specializing in the field of pediatric nursing. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama Birmingham and Troy Stat University. As a nurse educator she has taught in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Wallace Community College Selma and in hospital staff development. Before becoming a nurse educator, Mary Ellen had varied experiences as both staff and charge nurse in the following areas. Neonatal intensive care; cardiovascular surgery; and pediatric settings. She is presently working as a clinical educator in adult health nursing.
Kennedy Laraway is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with over 10 years experience in his field. He received a BA in history from Auburn University, and an Associate of Science Degree with a major in respiratory therapy from the California College of Health Sciences. He is currently the Clinical Coordinator of the Respiratory Therapy Department at Thomas Hospital.
Patti Thames has worked in a variety of clinical areas and has been working in infection control and employee health since 1998. She is certified in infection control and is currently serving as manager of the Infection Control/Employee Health Department at Thomas Hospital. In addition, she is currently serving on the board of the local organization of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control.
Julia Baldwin received her Master of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at McNeese State University and an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Mobile. Julia has broad experience in nursing education and critical care nursing. Julia is Regional Affiliate Faculty for the American Heart Association ACLS, and currently works as a Clinical Specialist at Thomas Hospital. She has excellent teaching skills and due to her vast clinical experiences, makes learning pertinent to everyday nursing practice.
