The Financial Aid Program at Faulkner State is under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and is operated by a full staff. The Financial Aid Committee acts as an advisory, review and decision-making council to the Director of Financial Aid.
Awarding of Financial Aid
Financial Aid is a process which involves many stakeholders: the Department of Education, the IRS, the family, the student, the Institution, the Financial Aid Office, the Admissions Office, and the Registrar, to name a few. Awarding financial aid is a process and takes time. Filing the FAFSA is the start of the process. The awarding process, once the Financial Aid Office receives all required information, takes 7 to 10 working days to complete.
Once all information is received, the Financial Aid Office can provide the student with a financial aid award. This award letter will confirm if the student is eligible for any type of grant aid or scholarship aid. Note that aid from all resources must be included in this letter. This includes any and all scholarships from any and all resources. Federal Financial Aid is awarded by calculating the need, which is the estimated cost of attendance less all resources (which includes any type of scholarship or grant that the student received). This letter will also confirm the amount and type of loan that the student is eligible for. Please note all students are eligible for loans unless: (1) they have defaulted on a previous loan, (2) they are academically ineligible to receive loans, or (3) they have used their maximum loan amount eligibility.
Letters will be sent via the student’s Faulkner State (FS) Email address. All awardees have Faulkner State Email addresses because in order to receive financial aid a student must be admitted to FS and in a degree (certificate) program of study. Once officially admitted to FS a student receives their campus email account.
Any financial aid commitment involving the use of federal funds is tentative and conditional upon subsequent congressional appropriations and actual receipt of the funds by Faulkner State Community College. The Financial Aid and Scholarship Committee reserves the right on behalf of Faulkner State Community College to review and cancel an award at any time because of changes in the student’s financial or academic status, changes of academic program or changes in the institutional award level.
To better serve the students, the Faulkner State Community College Financial Aid Priority deadline is July 1st. To receive full consideration for all aid sources, your application packet including the submission of all required documents, must be completed and received by the Financial Aid Office by noon on July 1st. Completed packets received after that time will still be processed for Pell Grant eligibility and Direct Loan eligibility. All tuition and fees are due by 7:00 p.m. on the last day of regular registration to avoid being removed from your registered classes. You may re-register (with payment) for your classes during the late registration period, provided space is available.
