Financial Aid

Financial Aid Office

One of the main reasons Faulkner State was founded was to offer an affordable, quality education to our students by offering Alabama’s lowest tuition to assist students with the cost of their college education. Our mission remains the same today by offering financial aid in the form of grants, loans, scholarships and work-study programs. By attending Faulkner State for two years, you can save enough in tuition and fees to cover the cost of your last two years of college. We’re helping students enjoy and benefit from the Faulkner State experience who otherwise would not be able to afford a college education.

How to apply for Financial Aid:

1. Complete the FAFSA application. Fall semester applications should be filed by April 1. First awards will be made by May 1.

2. Complete a Faulkner State application. Do not wait until you are accepted for admission to apply for financial aid.

3. Be sure to re-apply for financial assistance each academic year.

4. If you need assistance applying for financial aid, feel free to contact our Financial Aid Office at 251-580-2151 or 1-800-381-FSCC (3722).

Faulkner State offers a variety of financial aid including scholarships, grants and loans. Refer to pages 23 – 28 of the 2010-2011 College Catalog or Click here to see a full list of financial aid opportunities.

WARNING: A company called “College Financial Advisory” in San Diego is sending letters to students and parents requesting a $59 check in order to process financial aid for the 2011-2012 academic year.   This is NOT a request from the Department of Postsecondary Education or from Faulkner State Community College.   The company is using Faulkner State Community College’s name on the letter, making it look official.   However, this letter is NOT from Faulkner State. Students and parents are NOT required to pay a fee for financial aid processing and should disregard any correspondence they receive from this company.  Please call the FInancial Aid Office at Faulkner State if you have any questions…251-580-2151.

FAFSA

Faulkner State’s school code is 001060

If you are interested in applying for financial aid, you need to complete the FAFSA application first.

  • If you have never applied for financial aid, you must request a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov in order to be able to sign the FAFSA application electronically.
  • If you are a dependent student, your parent must also apply for a PIN.
  • Once you have processed your FAFSA application, it generally takes 3 to 5 business days for Faulkner State to receive it electronically. You will be mailed a tracking letter letting you know what other documents are needed to complete the financial aid process.

All financial aid needs to be awarded prior to registration; otherwise, you may be required to pay tuition and fees out of pocket. If you do have to pay out of pocket, you will be reimbursed later up to the limit of your award.
