Faulkner State Community College made an impressive showing at the 25th Annual Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony. Of the four Chancellor’s Awards given, Faulkner State received two: Ann Strickland, Technical Faculty Person of the Year and Nathan Taylor, Support Staff Person of the Year.
Strickland, who serves as the College’s Division Chair for Office Administration and Computer/Management Technology and Instructional Technology Specialist, has been with the College since 2004.
Taylor, who works in the College’s Maintenance Department, has been with the College for nearly 25 years.
Faulkner State had four outstanding individuals for the Class of 2011. Nominated by their peers for the titles were: Dean of Instruction Emily Martin for Administrator, Strickland for Technical Faculty, Dr. Martha Daughdrill for Academic Faculty and Taylor for Support Staff. All nominees were recognized statewide at the Chancellor’s Awards’ Ceremony in Montgomery, Ala.
The Chancellor’s Awards were established to recognize individuals from each institution in the ACCS who have consistently displayed professional growth and noteworthy service to the College and the community. Excluding presidents, four employees from each institution may be nominated for the awards of Administrator of the Year, Technical Faculty Person of the Year, Academic Faculty Person of the Year, and Support Staff Person of the Year.
Winners of the awards receive statewide recognition and a $1,000 professional development stipend in the name of the institution. These stipends allow recipients to participate in professional development activities as approved by the president.
